Quentin joins other illustrators in 'Drawing Europe Together'

Thursday 1st November 2018

Forty-five artists from across Europe share their powerful illustrations of the European Union's shared past and our unsure future, in a new book published by PanMacmillan. From Brexit bees to wall-jumping bulls, Drawing Europe Together is a unique collection portraying the European community . . . with or without Britain.

With a foreword by the British Book Awards Illustrator of the Year 2018, Axel Scheffler and contributions from many of the world’s best book illustrators including Quentin Blake, Claude Dubois, Jim Field, Emily Gravett, Judith Kerr, Oliver Jeffers, Sarah McIntyre, Lydia Monks, Thomas Müller and Chris Riddell.

Of his own contribution (titled 'Meet My Friends', pictured above) Quentin Blake said: ‘I feel privileged to be associated with two institutions that have my name on them; one in Berlin and the other French, though it is in London. As I did the drawing I felt even more European’.

Inspired by the Drawing (for) Europe exhibition which took place at the Institut Français in London in April 2018, Drawing Europe Together showcases the original artwork from the exhibition as well as never-before-seen illustrations from additional leading artists.   The Guardian online has a selected gallery of works from the collection, alongside comments by their authors, at: https://www.theguardian.com/books/gallery/2018/oct/29/beyond-red-lines-illustrators-europe-in-pictures

Published on 1 November 2018, the book is available to buy direct from the publisher, PanMacmillan, at: https://www.panmacmillan.com
