'Flying on their Books' print to support National Literacy Trust

Friday 3rd December 2021

In collaboration with the National Literacy Trust, renowned publisher Penguin asked Quentin Blake to create a print celebrating the transformative power of reading. The resulting image, entitled ‘Flying on their Books’, celebrates the way that reading activates our imaginations and transports us into new worlds. Profits from sales of this print will go to benefit the National Literacy Trust.

The National Literacy Trust is dedicated to improving the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills of those who need it most, giving them the best possible chance of success in school, work and life. They support schools and early years settings in communities where low levels of literacy and social mobility are seriously impacting people’s lives, to deliver outstanding literacy provision, and campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians, businesses and parents. Literacy is a vital element of action against poverty and their work changes children’s lives.

The future of reading and writing in the UK depends on the National Literacy Trust, who are working hard to ensure the most vulnerable children are supported as they return to the classroom during pandemic recovery.  At least £38 of each framed print and £20 of each unframed print (retailing at £85 and £35 respectively) will directly support their crucial work.
