The Schoolmistress / Maitresse
This collection of nearly 60 drawings of birds in human guise were produced using watercolour pencils. Published simultaneously by Doubleday (in the UK) and, as Nous les Oiseaux, by Gallimard (France) in 2005.
Quentin subsequently continued the series, from which he produced three limited edition prints for the Royal Academy Suumer Show in 2012.

Life under Water #13
One from a series of 16 drawings showing everyday life happening underwater. Commissioned by The Nightingale Project in 2009 for an adults mental health ward. Quentin Blake's original drawings are in black & white (an ink outline with grey watercolour wash) which was digitally altered at printing to add colour.

Maternity ward drawing #2
Commissioned by doctors at Scarborough Hospital in 2009, this series of 9 maternity drawings went on to form the basis of Quentin's much larger body of work for a new maternity unit in Angers, France. These maternity drawings featured as prints in the touring exhibition Quentin Blake: As Large as Life, which toured the UK 2012-2014.

Artwork for hospital facade #1
Quentin Blake was commissioned in 2009-10 by the University Hospital in Angers to produce over 40 artworks for use throughout the new maternity unit (which opened in 2011). This artwork was one of 6 used on the glass facade at the front of the building.

The Nightingale Project commissioned Quentin to produce a mural of drawings for a ward at St Bernard's Hospital in London in 2014. He duly provided 16 lively drawings showing some of the activities for patients at the hospital.
