I am always in favour of wings – they are enjoyable to draw and they mean that you can have the person or creature anywhere on the page.  It’s more lively and interesting if you don’t have to draw a stepladder.  Our angel with wings also seems to have wheels and if he has one there seems no reason why he would not have the other.  They are just wheels, not roller skates.  I suppose I liked the idea of two different, contrasting forms of movement; I cannot explain why you would want the use of wheels if you had got wings already. My plan is to look at the drawings again at leisure and maybe I shall come upon the explanation.  - Quentin Blake, August 2019
