'Moving Stories' at Seven Stories

Monday 7th April 2014

New exhibition charts the progress of well-loved children's stories from page to screen
Developed in partnership with National Media Museum in Bradford, this exciting new exhibition showcases innovative and influential film and television adaptations inspired by children's books. All areas of the exhibition focus on different aspects of storytelling and plots; featured stories include Alice in Wonderland, The Gruffalo and The Borrowers as well as fairy tales including Snow White, Cinderella and Shrek.

Many intriguing objects are on display for the first time, offering visitors a rare chance to see manuscripts, illustrations, storyboards, costumes and film footage.

Quentin Blake has loaned four pieces of original artwork to the show, to complement displays about Roald Dahl's 'Fantastic Mr Fox' and the best-selling book by David Walliams, 'Mr Stink', which was adapted for television and broadcast at Christmas 2012.

The show is at Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children's Books, 30 Lime Street, Newcastle from 5 April 2014 and is due to run for 12 months.  For more details and opening hours, visit the Seven Stories website
